Relson Gracie, 8th degree Red-Black belt, and was born in Rio
de Janeiro, Brazil into the largest family involved in sports,
the Gracie Family. The second oldest son of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Grandmaster
Helio Gracie, was aptly named as he was quickly became known in
and out of the family as a fierce competitor and ferocious fighter.
Professor Helio directed his never ending energy into competition
at the age of 10 and Relson became and remained a champion for
22 years! After feeling that he had nothing more to prove in competition,
Relson handed the reigns over to his brother Rickson to maintain
the Gracie family's championship streak. Relson then focused on
building champions. After staying briefly in Monterey, California,
Relson traveled to Hawaii, which reminded him so much of Brazil
that he made Hawaii his home back in 1987. Since that time, Relson
has accomplished his goal by creating numerous Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
world and state champions through his vast network of Relson Gracie
Jiu-Jitsu Associations across the world. However, there is no
rest for Relson as he is constantly building the next generation
of champions!
