The
Nalaielua Family Genealogy
Other family

Onzuka or Katsuda
I am not a Nalaielua, but my wife is. Patricia Nalaielua is the
daughter of Robert and La Verne Nalaielua Jr. Of course, after
marrying me, she is now Patricia Onzuka. I started researching
my own genealogy about a year before we got married and never
stopped. I have been trying to persuade her to do the same on
her side of the family for years. I think she is starting to
come around. I received a damaged copy of an old family tree
from Henry Nalaielua (Patty's uncle). And Grampa (Robert Nalaielua
Sr.) is currently working on updating the family tree and will
send it to me once it is finished. Time allowing, I am planning
to input the hard copy of the family tree into Family Tree Maker,
which is the genealogy software that I am using. Eventually I
plan to add more information to this page, amongst others. If
you have any information that you would like to add, please feel
free to contact
me or email Patty.
History
of the Nalaielua name
The Nalaielua name
is a truncated or shorten version of the whole name. The family
which now uses the Nalaielua name started out with the Aweau
name. The Nalaielua family raised the Aweau children and as a
show of respect and gratitude, they took on the Nalaielua name.
The family grew up on the island of Hawaii and moved around that
island a lot while growing up.

Unknown Family Members
Since I have not gone
through Nalaielua genealogy thoroughly yet, hopefully, I will
not run across any family members that I do not know the connection
to the family.

Known Family Members
Children of Robert & La Verne Nalaielua Jr.
Patricia Ann (Nalaielua) Onzuka is married to Christopher Onzuka,
the creator of this page, lives in Pearl City, Hawaii and can
be contacted by emailing her at patty@onzuka.com.
Tracy (Nalaielua) Furukawa is married to Alan Furukawa and they
recently (October 4, 2000) had their first child, Sierra La Verne
Kale'a Furukawa. Sierra can be seen by clicking here.
Kyle Nalaielua had his first child (August 2000), Justin Robert
Nalaielua and had his second child, Jonah.
Henry Nalaielua is in Kalaupapa, Molokai, but travels frequently.
Uncle Henry arrived in Kalaupapa when he was only 15 years old,
but he says that he would not have it any other way. His experiences
in Kalaupapa has allowed him to not only meet, but be-friended
many influential people. Patty & I visited Uncle Henry in
Kalaupapa in August 2000 and received a personalized grand tour
of not only the sites, but also the important history behind
those sites. It was my first time on Molokai and Patty's second
time. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope
to return very soon.
